HAVE YOU EVER FELT LIKE GIVING UP?
I HAVE. I'VE BEEN THERE.
BUT IT DIDN'T START OUT THAT WAY.
GROWING UP FAST
I grew up in a strong and close family. My parents made sure we had everything we needed to succeed. We didn’t have a lot, but we made it work and my parents always tried their best. Through it all we were blessed and nothing less.
GRADUATING, TO WHAT?
I graduated high school and went on to college. This is the time in my life where I began a series of poor decisions that led to my ultimate feelings of loneliness and depression that lasted for several years. I simply couldn't get out of my own way. Drugs and depression became volatile mix. Before long it seemed like the only way I could possibly go, was down.
HITTING ROCK BOTTOM
In 2001, I hit rock bottom. I was incarcerated again, defeated, and I had left myself for dead. I felt the curtain closing on my life. I wrestled with broken dreams and thoughts of suicide. I didn’t know anything else to do but pray. There was literally nothing else left to do. I asked God to heal my failing spirit and I started pivoting. I controlled what I could control: my attitude, my spirit, my work ethic, and my discipline. I learned how to pivot my thinking and lean into any challenge with expectations of success, and I gained a healthy thirst to serve and give back what I felt I had taken away. It worked, and I finally escaped the bad place never to return. Tough things still normally occurred over time, but I was now equipped to handle trauma, even the kind I may provoke every so often through lack of 1.effort, 2.focus, 3.courage 4.passion. We all take turns trudging through the tall grass at times, but there must be a balance.
TESTED THROUGH TRAUMA
Life is balance. I still face challenges as we all do, though I allow myself the appropriate space and time frame to lean in, hold fast, and move through it. In 2017 my brother and best friend Michael passed away suddenly. The following year my beloved wife Julia fell ill and passed away from stage 4 breast cancer, leaving me with a baby girl and a lot of confusion. I had to learn to pivot again. It’s been a journey for sure, but we can't let circumstances dull our vision. No matter how difficult the situation, you can rise above with a healthy mindset and keep going strong. you deserve balance and peace as well. Leadership may be tough, but the rewards are vast indeed.
MY MISSION, THE TRAUMA TECHNICIAN
My mission is to uplift and drive people towards their goals with sometimes tough but necessary reflection. There is a leader in all of us! We'll walk through it together and address the obstacles. We may laugh and we may cry, but the expectation will always be consistent execution and maximum value for the time we share. I also continue to chase my own goals and dreams. I work to make sure my children go further than I do, and they have all the lessons they will need to pivot when necessary. Helping young people and adults defeat trauma, walk in purpose, become leaders and live their best LYFE is MY ultimate goal. Lets talk about your PIVOT today!
